Steve Frank (b.1953) "Tall Spiral"

Steve Frank (b. 1953) "Tall Spiral", zebrawood on a limestone base. This elegant, ribbon-like sculpture seems to float weightless in the air. It was created by artist Steve Frank.

Steve Frank spent his career as a carpenter. He retired in 2009 and by 2011 he had turned his woodworking skills into an artform.

Art and antiques dealer Robert Morrissey met Frank in 2024 and thus began their collaboration. Morrissey sent Frank's wooden sculptures to his furniture restorer, an Englishman trained in the traditional techniques of wood and furniture polishing, who imparted a rich warm patina to the smooth surface. Morrissey then oversaw the fabrication of the limestone base, the warm color and smooth surface of which complement Frank's work.
