Marc Schoelcher (1766-1832) was born in Alsace and came to Paris in 1789 where he was in the porcelain manufacturing and retail business from 1798-1832. His factory, one of the largest in Paris and widely acclaimed for the quality of its wares, won a silver medal at the Louvre Exhibition of 1819.
