Chinese Export porcelain plate made for the Continental market, painted in black (en grisaille) with "A Lady At Her Toilet" within an orange (rouge de fer) and puce cartouche, spearhead cavetto and gilt leaf and vine border.

The subject of "A Lady At Her Toilet" was popular in the 18th century, and many versions can be found on Chinese Export porcelain. The source engraving for this version remains lost, but the cartouche shows a Meissen influence, suggesting a German origin.
