Queen Anne Walnut Mirror, c. 1710
Queen Anne walnut mirror, the molded frame with shaped crest surrounding the original beveled glass plate.
England c. 1710
33" x 22¼"
This elegant mirror, right around 300 years old, retains its original glass. The photos scarcely capture the subtlety of the beveling, especially as it follows the contours of the crest.
The plate was re-silvered sometime in the 19th century and is beginning to show its age. Again, it's difficult to photograph, but look closely at the overall shot.
Finally, this mirror was originally fitted with brass candle arms. Secured from the back, they looped under frame as indicated by the triangular patches circled in the photo.
