This gorgeous desk has many wonderful features, not the least of which is the leather top. Early, and possibly original, rarely do we see leather with such beautiful color, texture and patina. Notice also how the top and bottom drawers project forward slightly and continue around three sides of the desk. Both the inside and outside panels are cross-banded with herringbone inlay. Even the back panels, while plain, are bookmatched. Finally, the bracket feet have a beaded edge, a rare and elegant feature.

All of the drawers are lined with John Bull newspapers dating from January- March, 1824. John Bull was a Sunday newspaper published in London from 1820 until 1892.
